Hi everyone.
It’s no secret that the last few months were a bit rocky for not just WeNano but also almost every service in the Nano space. We first and foremost want to thank anyone and everyone who helped contribute ideas, work, and even just good vibes over the last few months.
While our core team spent lots of time trying to both help the general Nano effort and provide support to our users in a less than ideal network environment, we were also busy building out the next wave of WeNano experiences that highlight what we think makes WeNano so special. These additions will be rolling out over the next few weeks/months.
New Partnership — WeNano and SOS Villages
We are also very proud and excited to announce the latest addition to the app that puts us on a path to one of the key use cases that we envisioned for not just the WeNano app, but for any global decentralized digital currency trying to really do some good.
In partnership with the non-profit organization SOS Children’s Villages, we are launching two new spots that enable WeNano users to directly contribute to two distinct causes with specific goals. All in an effort to enrich the lives of children and families all over the world. All using our favorite global currency, Nano.
SOS Children’s Villages helped pair us up with two campaigns that we believe the WeNano community could really help realize around the world. The campaigns are listed below:
Dairy Cow for a Family — Zugdidi, Georgia: https://s.wena.no/s/3i6xzi1h
Vegetable Seeds for 25 Families — Uganda: https://s.wena.no/s/139xhfis
These spots are live now and can be accessed on the WeNano world map as well as via the posted links if viewing on a mobile device with the WeNano app installed.
Charitable Donations through WeNano
The ability for users to reach out and directly help those in need is the kind of utility that we have always envisioned for a global digital currency. One of the key ideas behind WeNano was always to show people just how fun and exciting it can be to connect those who need Nano with those who can give Nano in every part of the world.
Campaign Donation Leaderboards and Media Updates
These Spots have been outfitted with special features such as donor leaderboards and media updates directly from the Spot manager, which in this case is a representative of SOS Children’s Villages. We will be monitoring this pilot program closely to help us with the launch of more campaigns very soon!
App Optimizations and Reduced Minimum Spot Amount
On top of debuting these two new spots and the partnership with SOS Children’s Villages, we are also happy to announce that we have lowered the minimum Nano required to start your own Spot. You can now make your own Spots for as little as 0.1 Nano. We have also been working on map optimizations to generally give everyone a better experience when exploring the Spot map. Our in-app ChangeNOW functionality has also been restored. We hope this incentivizes our new and existing users to set up more Spots and invite even more people to check out their Spots and collect their first bit of the best money the world has ever seen.
To get access to all of these new and existing features make sure that you're on the latest version of the app on both iOS and Android. We have more exciting announcements coming very soon. Thank you all for taking the time to read our latest, and we’ll hopefully see you in a Spot near you!
